This large sculptural mug was made from a ball of strong sandy clay. Its surface was left naturally textured by the movement of fingers pressing along its clay walls. Its rim is tapered, and its edges smoothened just enough for use.
The playful take on the knob-like handle is our exploration of ways one can hold a cup. Or perhaps it’s just a little nose to cradle. An Archimboldo inspiration, maybe? More to come on this series.
